Class Rules & Company Policies

PLEASE DO NOT WRITE OR DRAW ON THE BOOKS OR TESTS.

THE USE OF CELL PHONES IS NOT PERMITTED IN CLASS.

ATTENDANCE AT ALL TEN CLASSES IS MANDATORY. You are allowed to miss up to four classes, but you must make them up when they’re offered again. Ask your instructor for the make-up dates for any classes you’ve missed.

ACCORDING TO STATE LAW, if you miss more than four classes you will have to start over.

YOU MUST ARRIVE ON TIME FOR ALL CLASSES. If you are more than 15 minutes late you will not be allowed to stay for class.

IN ORDER TO PASS THE CLASSROOM PORTION OF THE COURSE you must earn a score of 80% or higher on the final exam. If you fail the exam, you may try again on another day. There is no fee to retake the final exam.

UNRULY OR DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, and may result in expulsion without a refund.

YOU WILL BE PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST FOR IN-CAR INSTRUCTION AFTER THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA ARE MET:  1) You’ve finished all ten classes.  2) You’ve passed the final exam.  3) You’ve paid your full tuition. 4) You have received a learner’s permit and given us your learner’s permit number and expiration date.

ONCE ON THE WAITING LIST, THE WAITING PERIOD TO SCHEDULE DRIVING HOURS IS FIVE WEEKS. AFTER FIVE WEEKS HAS PASSED, IF YOU’RE READY TO SCHEDULE YOUR LESSONS, CALL US AT 410-686-1718.

THE IN-CAR INSTRUCTOR WILL PICK YOU UP from your home, school, or work, as long as it is located within our driving area. Otherwise, you will be asked to meet at the driving school. When you have a driving appointment, please allow for possible lateness due to traffic or other problems.

IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL OR CHANGE YOUR DRIVING APPOINTMENT, WE REQUIRE NOTICE BY 3PM ON THE PREVIOUS BUSINESS DAY (Monday through Friday).

SAME-DAY CANCELLATIONS AND MISSED APPOINTMENTS WILL RESULT IN A $50 FEE.  Again, if you need to cancel an appointment, you must notify the office by the previous business day.

THROUGHOUT THE SIX HOURS OF DRIVING PRACTICE, the in-car instructor will be evaluating and grading you on all aspects of your driving performance. During the final hour you must earn a score of 80% in order to pass the course. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to get a learner’s permit as soon as possible and log as many hours as you can before going out with the driving instructor. IF YOU FAIL THE DRIVING, YOU WILL BE CHARGED $30 FOR A RE-EVALUATION.

FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE, THE MVA SKILLS TEST MAY BE TAKEN IN ONE OF OUR CARS.               The fee starts at $130 but may be increased because the time and travel requirements are different for every test.

All Students will receive an MVA student workbook. It is mandatory for you to bring the workbook to all 10 classroom sessions. Replacement workbooks are available to purchase for $5.

IF YOU MUST WITHDRAW FROM THE CLASS, YOU WILL RECEIVE A PRORATED REFUND. You will be charged $10 for each classroom session attended and $50 for each hour of driving that you completed. If you withdraw from class, you will be provided with a classroom student record and completion form and a behind-the-wheel student record and completion form listing the amount of instruction that has occurred which will be transferable to a new school. Refunds will only be issued if requested within 6 months of your first class.

THE COURSE COSTS $365. YOU MAY START THE CLASS WITH A $100 DOWN PAYMENT. THE REMAINING BALANCE MUST BE PAID WITHIN 6 MONTHS. IF YOUR TUITION ISN’T PAID IN FULL WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF YOUR STARTING DATE, A $50 LATE FEE WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT. Each six months thereafter, until your balance is paid, an additional $50 fee will be added to your account, until the balance equals the original tuition. If you have questions about this, or concerns about your ability to pay, please speak with us before your six months is up.

THERE IS A $25 FEE FOR RETURNED CHECKS.

THERE IS A $20 FEE TO TRANSFER TO ANOTHER ABC CLASSROOM LOCATION. Call our office if you need to transfer to another location.

It takes three additional business days for the MVA to process the Certificate, so be sure to schedule your MVA skills test for at least four business days after you’re scheduled to complete Driver’s Education. Also, make sure all of the information we have on file for you is correct, or your certification will not be validated.
